Small lake, surrounded by wet meadows, reeds and a few scattered bushes.
Since the renaturation was completed in 2002, the Seeanger has developed into an important area, especially during migration mainly for waders and ducks. A five hectar pond is surrounded by wet meadows, reeds and a few scattered bushes making this a diverse site attractive to a wide selection of species. Spring migration is best with Eurasian Wigeon, Northern Shoveler, Northern Pintail, Common Teal, Garganeyand Gadwall all occurring regularly in March and April. 32 wader species have been observed here with Ruff, Spotted Redshank, Green Sandpiper, Wood Sandpiper and Common Snipe being regular migrants. However numbers of birds are dependant upon water levels.
The Seeanger is used as a breeding site by species like Northern Lapwing, Gadwall (not every year), Water Rail, Bluethroat or Savi's Warbler. In winter, the area is usually quiet with only few birds around though Bearded Tit turned up regularly in the last few years.
The site is best visited by car. There is no official carpark but it is possible to park the car in the nearby village Seeburg. From here you can enter via "Heckenkrug".
