Description
The Kauerlach Pond is an example of wetland conservation and especially during migration an interesting birdwatching area which can be combined with other near spots in the area like the Rothsee.
The structure of the pond, with its extensive reed beds and shallow water areas, offers ideal conditions for reed dwellers (e.g., Rørsanger, Drosselrørsanger) and waders during migration. Species that have been observed here frequently include Brushane, Almindelig Ryle, Mudderklire, Svaleklire, Tinksmed, Sortklire, Hvidklire and Sortterne.
For other bird species check out the open fields in the North as well as the forest on the East side.
