Description

Vogelfreistätte Mittlere Isarstauseen is one of the most valuable water bird sanctuaries in Bavaria. It has mixed habitats supporting a variety of species. The almost six square kilometers nature reserve has a high nature conservation significance. The water bodies are not used for recreational purposes and hunting is prohibited in the entire protected area. Among the birds you can see are Common Kingfisher, Water Rail, Little Grebe, Mallard, Tufted Duck, Common Pochard, Red-crested Pochard, Red-breasted Merganser, Great Cormorant, Grey Heron, Great Egret, Western Marsh Harrier and Sparrowhawk.
