Wöhrder Wiese is a large green space in central Nuremberg, located along the Pegnitz River and adjacent to the Wöhrder See. The nearby water bodies attract Gluvara, Siva čaplja, and occasionally Veliki vranac or gulls. During migration periods, the area can host increased bird activity, especially along the river corridor.
Though not a dedicated bird reserve, Wöhrder Wiese offers opportunities to observe urban-adapted birds and seasonal visitors in a central, accessible setting.
While rare birds are not common at Wöhrder Wiese, occasional surprises occur, especially during migration. Wöhrder Wiese is located just east of Nuremberg’s city center. Parking is available at nearby public garages such as “Parkhaus Wöhrder See” or along some adjacent streets, though spaces can be limited (Click on P on the map for directions)
The site is very bike-friendly, with dedicated cycle paths running through and around the park. It connects well to the city’s larger cycling network and the Pegnitz riverside route.
The area is easily reached by U-Bahn (underground) via the U2/U3 lines, stopping at “Wöhrder Wiese” station (marked with a star on the map). Several bus and tram lines also serve the area, making it highly accessible from all parts of the city.
