Here the Bussento river reaches the sea, in the Gulf of Policastro. On the sides of the mouth pebble beach mixed with sand and land with fruit trees.

Description

Foce Bussento is particularly interesting in spring, from the end of February to June, due to the migratory passage in particular of ducks and herons, especially on rainy days, when they take refuge in the bay of the Gulf. Among the bird you can encounter are Garganey, Northern Pintail, Common Teal, Ferruginous Duck, Greater Flamingo, Little Grebe, Black-necked Grebe, Water Rail, Black-winged Stilt, Avocet, Eurasian Oystercatcher, Kentish Plover, Common Ringed Plover, Little Ringed Plover, Whimbrel, Eurasian Curlew, Sanderling, Dunlin, Common Sandpiper, Green Sandpiper, Common Greenshank, Wood Sandpiper, Common Redshank, Caspian Tern, Black Tern, Sandwich Tern, Little Bittern, Grey Heron, Purple Heron, Great Egret, Little Egret, Cattle Egret, Squacco Heron, Black-crowned Night Heron, Glossy Ibis, Eurasian Spoonbill, Osprey, Moustached Warbler, Sedge Warbler, Reed Warbler, Great Reed Warbler and many more, see the birdlist below.

Italiano: Qui il fiume Bussento arriva a mare, nel Golfo di Policastro. Ai lati della foce spiaggia di ciottoli mista a sabbia e terreni con alberi da frutto. L'area è interessante soprattutto in primavera, da fine febbraio a giugno, per il passo migratorio in particolare di anatidi e ardeidi, soprattutto nei giorni di pioggia, in cui si riparano nella baia del Golfo.

Access

By car you can go directly to the mouth, from the town side you can park a few tens of meters from the beach and walk along the river or along the coast to the port. On the other hand, you can reach the mouth directly by car or by bike.

Italiano: Con l'auto si arriva direttamente alla foce, dal lato del paese si può parcheggiare a poche decine di metri dalla spiaggia e passeggiare lungo il corso del fiume o del litorale fino al porto. Dall'altra parte si arriva direttamente alla foce in auto o bici.
