This is an area cultivated with corn. In autumn and winter it is possible to observe many wintering birds including the rare Saker Falcon.

Description

The area of Le Pagliete di Maccarese is an important hunting zone for numerous birds of prey, including Peregrine Falcon, Booted Eagle, Eurasian Kestrel, Western Marsh Harrier, Hen Harrier, Common Buzzard and the rare Saker Falcon.

It is also possible to observe Ardeidae including Grey Heron, Cattle Egret, Great Egret, Little Egret. Common Pheasant is not uncommon in the fields, as are Eurasian Skylark, Northern Lapwing, Rock Dove, Common Snipe, European Goldfinch and Meadow Pipit. Along the irrigation canals Common Kingfisher is present.
