Description

Oasi Naturalistica di Isola Sant'Antonio is a wetland where more than 150 species of birds nest or stop during migration. You can see many species of ducks like Northern Pintail, Northern Shoveler, Common Pochard, Common Teal, Gadwall, Eurasian Wigeon, Tufted Duck, Red-crested Pochard and Ferruginous Duck. The area has an educational trail with information panels. The strategic position of the Oasis, located along one of the main ecological corridors in Italy, namely the River Po, allows it to act as a crossing point for the many bird species that migrate over the territory. Among the birds you can see besides ducks are Stone-curlew, Common Tern, Common Kingfisher, Red-backed Shrike, Little Bittern, Purple Heron, Little Egret, Black-necked Grebe, Common Nightingale and Great Reed Warbler. Note: The area can only be visited during events and by reservation (see below for more info).
