Description

Palude di Brabbia is a wetland and nature reserve of 4 hectares near the village of Inarzo. The Brabbia Marsh stands on a former peat bog that, starting from the mid-800 and until after the Second World War, was intensively exploited for the excavation of peat. Today it is an important nature reserve which has nice trails and observation facilities for birdwatching. Due to its variety of environments, the Brabbia Marsh Nature Reserve is rich in birds. There are in fact 160 species of birds recorded in the area such as the rare Ferruginous Duck. In the migratory seasons you can observe as many as nine species of ducks. Among the other birds you can see are Black-crowned Night Heron, Little Bittern, Water Rail, Purple Heron, Grey Heron, Great Egret, Black Woodpecker, Marsh Tit, Eurasian Coot, Common Snipe, Western Marsh Harrier, Osprey and Spotted Flycatcher.
