Old saltworks of Olbia that are now abandoned. The saltworks form a string of ponds that it is possible to walk along to Baia Turchese.

Description

Vecchie Saline are the old saltworks of Olbia. You can walk along a string of ponds and walk along to Baia Turchese (separate entry also described on Birdingplaces). Among the birds you can see are Meadow Pipit, Greater Flamingo, Great Egret, Little Egret, Grey Heron, Cattle Egret, Cirl Bunting, Great Cormorant, Eurasian Curlew, Common Shelduck, Northern Shoveler, Black-winged Stilt, Grey Wagtail and Common Greenshank.

Access

There are several car parks near the ponds (for the beaches which border all the ponds). There are different access routes Click on a P in the map to get directions to thast P. Binoculars and telescopes essential. During the rainy seasons, the access roads have significant potholes and flooded parts (boots and 4x4).
