Description

Just above the beautiful medieval village Arquà Petrarca, this area belongs to the Natural Park Colli Euganei. It is mostly dry meadows (locally called "vegri") with beautiful views on the hills themselves and the plain. The best seasons for birdwatching are spring and summer, with breeding European Turtle Dove, Cirl Bunting, Sardinian Warbler, Eurasian Nightjar, Eurasian Hoopoe, Common Nightingale. Tawny Pipit and Short-toed Snake Eagle are also possible summer visitors.

Also a good area for butterflies. It can be crowded (hikers, mountain bikers) during sunny weekends and unfortunately it is not uncommon to come across motorbike riders on the paths (illegally).
