Description

The Bethunepolder is located between the lakes of Maarsseveense and Loosdrechtse Plassen. It is a varied peat meadow area that attracts many birds. Among the birds you may encounter are Spotted Crake, Baillon's Crake, Little Owl, Barn Owl, Long-eared Owl, Eurasian Goshawk, Water Rail, Black-tailed Godwit, Common Redshank, Garganey and Black-winged Stilt.

Nederlands: De Bethunepolder ligt ingeklemd tussen de Maarsseveense- en Loosdrechtse Plassen. Het is een gevarieerd veenweidegebied met 40 hectare rietveld, wilgenbos, plas-drasgebieden en weilanden. Vogels die je er kunt tegenkomen zijn onder meer Spotted Crake, Baillon's Crake, Little Owl, Barn Owl, Long-eared Owl, Eurasian Goshawk, Water Rail, Black-tailed Godwit, Common Redshank, Garganey en Black-winged Stilt.

Access

Parking is possible along the roads. The area is easy to explore on foot or by bike. Most beautiful parts: Veenkade-Noord, Meeuwenseweg, Middenweg from Landweg westwards, footpath around the Veenderij (reed area).
