Description

De Flauwers and Wevers Inlagen and the adjecent Prunjepolder, are part of the so called 'Bird Boulevard' of the province of Zeeland. Thousands, sometimes tens of thousands of waders, seagulls, geese and ducks close together in a beautiful brackish, swamp.

In the spring you will find hundreds of nesting birds on the islands in the inlays, including the Common Tern, Black-headed Gull and Sandwich Tern. This area has traditionally been one of the best breeding grounds for Common Redshank and Avocet in the Netherlands. At high tide birds such as the Grey Plover, Eurasian Curlew, Bar-tailed Godwit, Dunlin and Red Knot rest and feed in the inlays.

Access

A good starting point is the parking space at Flauwers haven. You can park here to explore the area on foot or by bicycle. However, the area is also accessible by car as shown on the route map. It is not possible to enter the area itself. However, the area can be clearly seen from various points along the road with binoculars or a telescope. In July, August and September there are excursions in the area and in the winter months a guide can guide you around the area.
