Description

It Swin is a small lake surrounded by reed beds and marsh. In the autumn you can often see large groups of Eurasian Wigeon. Common Teal, Northern Shoveler, Common Pochard, Tufted Duck, Goosander and Smew also visit the area. There are many sorts of geese around in the meadows, including the Pink-footed Goose and European Golden Plover. During the breeding season there is a chance on Bluethroat,Western Marsh Harrier, Great Bittern, Spotted Crake. During migration Eurasian Spoonbill, Great Egret and Hen Harrier.

Nederlands: It Swin is een meertje dat omringd is door rietvelden en moeras. In het najaar zijn er vaak grote groepen Eurasian Wigeon te zien. Ook Common Teal Northern Shoveler Common Pochard Tufted Duck Goosander en Smew bezoeken het gebied. Rondom in de weilanden vele zoorten ganzen waaronder de Pink-footed Goose en European Golden Plover . In de broedtijd kans op Bluethroat Western Marsh Harrier Great Bittern Spotted Crake . In trektijd Eurasian Spoonbill , Great Egret, Hen Harrier.

It Swin is located between Harich and Elahuizen (2 km from Elahuizen) on the Keamerlanswei. Parking at the gate with information panel and bench. Also at a viewing platform on the road. Outside the breeding season after 15 June, a so-called boot-path can be walked from Elahuizen through the meadows and partly over the quay of It Swin.

Nederlands: It Swin ligt tussen Harich en Elahuizen (2 km van Elahuizen) aan de Keamerlanswei. Parkeren bij hek met informatie paneel en bankje. Ook bij uitkijkplateau aan de weg. Vanuit Elahuizen kan buiten de broedtijd na 15 juni een z.g. laarzenpad gelopen worden door de weilanden en deels over de kade van It Swin.
