Description

In Leinwijk the agricultural lands are slowly making way for a flood marsh: the original status of the area around lake Zuidlaardermeer. This landscape is part of the Hunze stream valley system. The marsh functions as a natural purification plant for the Zuidlaardermeer. A 3 kilometer long walking route (see the map) starts in Kropswolde and leads largely through tall grass. Boots come in handy in this wet environment! During the walk and from the watchtower you can see birds like Western Marsh Harrier, Reed Warbler, Reed Bunting, Bluethroat, Greylag Goose, Greater White-fronted Goose, Smew, Great Egret, Whiskered Tern, Canada Goose, Great Bittern, White-tailed Eagle and Common Kingfisher.

Een 3 kilometer lange wandelroute (zie kaart) start in Kropswolde en voert grotendeels door hoog gras. Laarzen zijn handig in deze natte omgeving!
