Description

The Noordwaard is an overgrown sandbank with a lot of reeds, plants and woods. In the forest breed Grey Heron and in the marsh Great Egret and Great Bittern. The Middenwaard is much younger and was created after the sand has been removed. Area with running water and young plants. From the outlook tower an overview of both areas. Especially interesting in migration time.

Nederlands: Hoge uitkijktoren (Murray) op dijklichaam met zicht op Makkumer Noord en Midden waard. Gebieden met rietvelden, moeras, water en opgaande beplanting. De Noordwaard is een begroeide zandplaat met ondertussen veel riet, beplanting en bos. In het bos broeden Grey Heron en op de waard Great Egret en Great Bittern. De Middenwaard is veel jonger en ontstaan nadat het zand is weggehhaald. Gebied met stromend water en jonge beplanting. Vanaf de toren overzicht over beide gebieden. Vooral in trektijd interressant.

Access

The tower can be reached via the disengagement road from the business site and there is room for parking. De Noordwaard can only be visited with a guide and excusions. The Middenwaard is freely accessible via the paths and suitable for a tour.

Nederlands: De toren is via de ontslutingsweg van het bedrijven terrein te bereiken en daar is ruimte voor P. De Noordwaard is alleen met gids en excusies te bezoeken. De Middenwaard is vrij toegankelijk via de paden en geschikt voor een rondje.

The tower was built to provide a good overview of the entire area. The new structure of the ditches in the Middenwaard is so clearly visible. In the direction of Noordwaard there is a view of the highest forest of the Noordwaard and the surrounding reed beds and Makkumerdiep.

Nederlands: De toren ie gebouwd om het gehele gebied goed te kunnen overzien. De nieuwe sturctuur van de aangelegde slenken in de Middenwaard is zo goed zichtbaar. Richting Noordwaard is het zicht op het hoogste bos van de Noordwaard en de omliggende rietvelden en Makkumerdiep.
