Enjoy the view on the northern side of the Eastern Scheldt (the largest and wettest National Park of the Netherlands) from this 23-meter high tower.
The Plompe Tower is the church tower (and only remnant) of Koudekerke. A former village on Schouwen-Duiveland that was once swallowed by the waves. This is good place to enjoy the view on the Oosterschelde and Schouwen-Duiveland. Many birds are attracted by the so calles 'inlages', low-lying, moist grasslands that are partly submerged. In spring you see Common Redshank, Black-tailed Godwit, Avocet and Black-headed Gull. In the winter months, thousands of Barnacle Goose and Brent Goose forage on the brackish grassland.
Due to its location, traveling there by car is the best option.
The Eastern Scheldt (Dutch: Oosterschelde) is a former estuary in the province of Zeeland, Netherlands, between Schouwen-Duiveland and Tholen on the north and Noord-Beveland and Zuid-Beveland on the south. It is also the largest national park in the Netherlands, founded in 2002.
