Description

In Poelbroekpark and the Meerwijkplas you will find lakes, reed hedges, pools, flowery grasslands and lots of birds. One of the most special birds that occurs is the Great Bittern, but very hard to see. These birds will much easier to find: Little Grebe, Bluethroat, Common Nightingale, Water Rail, Common Cuckoo, Marsh Warbler and Garden Warbler. Other birds you can see here are Garganey, Northern Shoveler, Gadwall, Eurasian Wigeon, Mallard, Common Teal, Red-crested Pochard, Common Pochard, Tufted Duck, Goosander,Common Snipe, Common Kingfisher, Eurasian Spoonbill and Reed Bunting.

Nederlands: Poelbroekpark en de aangrenzende Meerwijkplas is één van de rijkste natuurgebieden in de stadsrand van Haarlem. Je vindt er water en riethagen, poelen, bloemrijke graslanden en heel veel vogels. Een van de meest bijzondere vogels er voorkomt is de Great Bittern, ook al is die wel heel moeilijk te zien en moet je daarvoor ook een portie geluk hebben.
