Description

The Rottige Meente is a large reed marsh with peat holes, with the a hide in the middle. You can se Eurasian Spoonbill, White Stork and to a lesser extent Great Bittern. Purple Heron is also possible. Of the many common waders, we mention Ruff, Wood Sandpiper, Black-winged Stilt, Common Sandpiper and Black-tailed Godwit. Birds of prey such as Eurasian Hobby and Western Marsh Harrier are regularly seen. Many species of ducks can be seen on the water, including many Gadwall, Northern Shoveler, sometimes Goosander, Little Grebe and Common Goldeneye. Songbirds like Bluethroat, Reed Warbler and many Sedge Warbler.

Nederlands: De Rottige Meente is een groot riet/moeras met petgaten.De kijkhut staat er midden in. O.a. Eurasian Spoonbill White Stork, Canada Goose en in mindere mate Great Bittern en Purple Heron hebben er heel wat stappen neergezet. Van de talrijk voorkomende steltlopers noemen we kemphaan, bosruiter, steltkluut, oeverloper, (IJslandse) grutto. Roofvogels als boomvalk en bruine kiekendief laten zich regelmatig zien. Op het water zijn veel soorten eenden te zien, waaronder veel krakeend, slobeend, soms grote zaagbek, dodaars en brilduiker. Zangvogels als Bluethroat, Reed Warbler en veel Sedge Warbler.
