Description

Sonderler Leijen is a lake with reeds and meadows that are partly under water in winter. Especially in autumn and winter a beautiful location with good light for observing many species and numbers of water birds. There are many species of geese in the area in the winter period. Among the birds you can see are Eurasian Wigeon, Common Teal, Smew, Reed Bunting, Common Snipe and Barnacle Goose.

Nederlands: Sonderler Leijen is een meertje met rietkragen, een rietveld en weilanden die 's winters deels onder water staan. Met name in de herfst en winter een prachtige locatie met goed licht voor het waarnemen van vele soorten en aantallen watervogels. In de omgeving zijn in de winterperiode vele soorten ganzen.

6 km west of the village of Lemmer and 3 km southeast of Sondel. Via the Sondelerdijk and De Leijen to the parking. Click on the P in the map to get directions. In Lemmer via the parallel road. Viewing screen on the water and a platform on the water for wheelchair users, accessible from the same P.
