This excellent birdingplace is situated in the Inlaag Polder between Amsterdam and Haarlem (south of the A9): plenty of waterfowl and meadow birds to be seen.

Description

The lake of Westhoffplas is situated in a polder, as there are many in the Netherlands. Recently there has been build an obervation hide near the Westhofflake. Among the birds you can see here are: Eurasian Spoonbill, Eurasian Wigeon, Common Shelduck, Avocet, Greylag Goose Greater White-fronted Goose and Mute Swan. At the west side of the polder there are two more smaller lakes.

Nederlands: Deze uitstekende vogelplek ligt in de Inlaagse Polder tussen Amsterdam en Haarlem (ten zuiden van de A9): er zijn veel watervogels en weidevogels te zien. De Westhoffplas ligt in een polder, zoals er in Nederland veel zijn. Onlangs is er een vogelkijkhut gebouwd nabij het Westhoffmeer. Onder de vogels die je hier kunt zien zijn: Eurasian Spoonbill, Eurasian Wigeon, Common Shelduck, Avocet, Greylag Goose Greater White-fronted Goose en Mute Swan . Aan de westkant van de polder liggen nog twee kleinere meren.

Access

This place can best be explored by bicycle or on foot. You can drive by car, but the roads are narrow. You can make a roundtour by bike. You can park your car at the end of the village Spaarndam on the Ringweg where is crosses the Hornweg. Click on the P in the map to get directions.

Nederlands: Deze plek kan het beste per fiets of te voet verkend worden. Je kunt met de auto rijden, maar de wegen zijn smal. Met de fiets kun je een rondrit maken. Je kunt de auto parkeren op het einde van het dorp Spaarndam aan de Ringweg waar de Hornweg oversteekt. Klik op de P op de kaart om een routebeschrijving te krijgen.
