Description
Zalew Szałe is a good place to observe migrating ducks, such as Eurasian Wigeon, Northern Pintail and Eurasian Teal. On the reservoir itself, you can spot many species of gulls, divers, and grebes, such as Black-throated Diver, Caspian Gull and Common Gull, which breeds here. Rarities such as White-headed Duck, Bar-tailed Godwit and Glaucous Gull have appeared on the reservoir.
Szałe isn't just a reservoir, it encompasses everything surrounding it. In the surrounding Winiary forest, you can spot interesting species like Black Woodpecker, Wood Lark and Eurasian Treecreeper. Sand Martin and gulls nest readily on the slopes near the reservoir, and in the local fields, you can observe Northern Lapwing and Eurasian Wryneck. I hope I've encouraged you to observe this incredibly important place for the region. See you at Szałe.
