Description

The Salobrar de Campos has been declared a protected Área Natural de Especial Interés (ANEI) thanks to its dynamic and perfectly preserved ecosystem. It is a paradise for birds that rest and nest here. On the best days you can see more than 20 species of waders here. It is an ecosystem consisting of dunes, cultivated fields and lagoons from which salt is extracted. The mild climate of the island, the gentle sea breeze and the low humidity of this peculiar ecosystem allow the water to evaporate naturally and spontaneously. Birds you can see here are Common Shelduck, Greater Flamingo, Water Rail, Black-winged Stilt, Avocet, Grey Plover, Northern Lapwing, Kentish Plover, Common Ringed Plover, Little Ringed Plover, Stone-curlew, Eurasian Curlew, Black-tailed Godwit, Ruff, Temminck's Stint, Dunlin, Little Stint, Common Sandpiper, Spotted Redshank, Wood Sandpiper, Common Redshank, Collared Pratincole, Little Gull and Audouin's Gull.
