The Set River near Aspa is a good place to look for birds of steep rocky arid landscapes. The Black Wheatear is the most iconic bird.

Description

The Set River near Aspa is a good place to look for birds of steep rocky arid habitats. The most interesting species you can observe are Black Wheatear, Blue Rock Thrush, European Roller, and Iberian Grey Shrike. At night, Eagle Owl can be heard and with luck, seen. Other resident birds species present in the area are Stock Dove, Iberian Green Woodpecker, Red-billed Chough, and Thekla's Lark.

During the breeding season, some remarkable summer species are: Black Kite, European Turtle Dove, Red-rumped Swallow, and Black-eared Wheatear. In winter, in the deciduous forest the most interesting species are Redwing and Hawfinch.

Español: El río Set, en Aspa (Lleida) es un buen lugar para observar aves de terrenos áridos, rocosos y escarpados, siendo las especies más interesantes Black Wheatear , Blue Rock Thrush , European Roller , y Iberian Grey Shrike. Por la noche, puedes oir Eagle Owl y con un poco de suerte puedes verlo también. Access

Aspa is located near Lleida. The site can only be reached by car. Press P on the map for directions. Park close to the road, and walk following the paved road direction east, looking for birds on the cliffs and in the deciduous forest and birds present on the river.

Español: Sólo se puede llegar al lugar en coche. Aparque cerca de la carretera y camine por el camino asfaltado en dirección este, buscando aves en el acantilado y en el bosque caducifolio del río.

The place is very hot in summer, so better go birding in the early morning. In winter it can be foggy.
