Description

The Långfjället Nature Reserve is one of Sweden’s largest. The highest peak is Storvätteshogna, at 1204 m. It has areas of pure primeval forest without traces of forestry. On the moutain plateau it is lovely walking with plenty of birds on top and in dales. Lots of Rock Ptarmigan, Meadow Pipit, European Golden Plover and Northern Wheatear. You also find Siberian Jay (in the coniferous forest) and Common Greenshank (around small bog areas in the forest). And along the streams and rivers the White-throated Dipper is a common sight. In the lakes and streams you can find ducks like Common Teal, Common Goldeneye and Black-throated Diver. You can also encounter moose, foxes, martens and brown bears.
