Description

Städjan-Nipfjället nature reserve consists of a large mountain massif whose highest peak is the "Cloud" at 1191 meters. A vast wilderness area with a lot of forests, bogs, marshes and lakes. Steep peaks with nice but wet trails around them, lots of undergrowth which the birds like. Examples of birds you can encounter are Northern Wheatear, Ring Ouzel, Rock Ptarmigan, and lots and lots of reindeer!

Access

Many roads, marked trails and paths make this area a well-visited nature reserve that is easy to get into. Follow RV 70 by Idre By, about 100 meters after Ica turn right towards Nipfjället. Drive about 15 km up to Nipfjället bottom parking at Nipstugan, here it goes about 3 km up to Nipfjälls parking lot. The gravel road is Sweden's highest road and ends at a small turning area, along the way, you have the Magic Road. From Nipfjälls park's it's a walk at 3.5 km up to the "Cloud".

Parking at the foot of Lillmulen is possible but can get very full quickly. Parking further down also possible, and walking up off-road. Click on the P in the map to get directions.
