Description

Dättern Nature reserve is an important area for migratory and breeding birds. Sjöryd is a part with reeds and grasslands that are kept open with mowing. The area is easily accessible on foot. Many different species of ducks can be found here. Also many wading birds can be seen. Breeding species include Western Marsh Harrier, Spotted Crake and Bearded Tit. Frequent visitors are White-tailed Eagle and Osprey.

Access

Drive to Sjöryd's property and park at designated place (see the P on the map). Follow the gravel road north on foot. Visit the observation platform with good views over the area. Continue along the platform past the pastures east towards Kilja pump house. This is about a 2 km walk (one way).
