Description

From the top of Lernacken there is a great view of the bay and the straight S of the Öresund bridge. Just below the height there is a small lagoon, reed beds, meadows and some groves. The area is interesting all times of the year but especially at spring and autumn.

From the very top of Lernacken, at the statue, there is a wide view in all directions and is a good spot to follow the migration.

The lagoon and outside the inlet is good for ducks; Eurasian Wigeon, Northern Pintail, Common Shelduck, Common Teal and less often Gadwall. In spring and summer it is also a good spot for Little Tern and ocassionally Caspian Tern, some years Avocet tries to breed (never with success). Breeding species are Water Rail, Reed Bunting.

As a spoot for shorebirds it is mainly good for Tringa; Common Redshank, Common Greenshank, Wood Sandpiper, Spotted Redshank, Green Sandpiper, Common Sandpiper. Other waders are more scarce even though Dunlinis frequent and in small numbers other Calidris. Occasionally Grey Plover, Bar-tailed Godwit. As the name suggests there has been seen Terek Sandpiper( 2002).

The grooves are interesting in spring and autumn migration for resting passerines; Firecrest, Red-breasted Flycatcher and in winter Eurasian Woodcock has been seen.

The location close to the Öresund straight should suggest that the local would be good for watching seebirds and the migration along the coast, fex Common Eider. This is not the case, the reason is debated but the Öresundsbridge might be one of the answers, and a big part of the Common Eidercross Skåne over land a bit further up at the coast. Despite this a low number of the migrating birds can be seen at sea.

Winter; Whooper Swan, Goosander, Hen Harrier, Rough-legged Buzzard, Eurasian Bullfinch, Bohemian Waxwing

Spring; Thrush Nightingale, Marsh Warbler, Spotted Redshank( may and july), Little Tern

Summer; Icterine Warbler, Marsh Warbler, Common Ringed Plover

Autumn; Brent Goose (oct), Long-tailed Tit, Bearded Tit , Hen Harrier, Rough-legged Buzzard, Jack Snipe( S of the tower)

There has been a monthly inventory of the are the last 5 years, top numbers each month; Jan 50 species, Feb 49, Mar 59, Apr 72, May 66, Jun 66, Jul 61, Aug 68, Sep 59, Oct 62, Nov 59, Dec 51.

Rare birds that have been seen; Great Egret, Little Egret, Black-winged Stilt,
