Description

If you want to hike in the Alpes (at medium elevation, not in very alpine landscapes) and have opportunity to see some or most alpine species, the area of Palette d'Isenau is a good option.

Access

The Lac Retaud can be accessed by car. Another option is to take the cable car in Les Diablerets to go up to "La Marnèche/Isenau". It is then a good option to walk as much as possible in the area. The trail that is shown on the map is 6,5 km.

The conditions can be alpine and the weather can for example change quickly. So always take good shoes and a waterproof jacket. It is also always absolutely fundamental to take drinking water. Be well prepared with for example the maps of the region (link below). Also check the weather forecast, link below as well.

Generaly do not go in the area in winter as there are a lot of avalanches.
