Description

Parc Mon Repos is a tranquil park located along the shores of Lake Geneva, featuring manicured gardens, woodland areas, and a scenic lakeside promenade. The park’s mix of habitats provides an ideal environment for a variety of bird species.

In spring and summer, you can spot Πρασινοκέφαλη Πάπια, (Βουβός) Κύκνος, and Σκουφοβουτηχτάρι swimming in the lake, while the surrounding trees and shrubs are home to Δεντροφυλλοσκόπος, Γαλαζοπαπαδίτσα, Φασσοπερίστερο, and (Κοινός) Κότσυφας. Migratory swallows can often be seen flying overhead.

During autumn and winter, the shore attracts (Κοινή) Φαλαρίδα, Μαυροκέφαλη Πάπια, and (Κοκκινόλαιμο) Νανοβουτηχτάρι. (Ευρωπαϊκή) Νεροκοτσέλα and (Ευρωπαϊκή) Αλκυόνη are occasionally seen along the lake’s edge.

Particularly during migration periods, you can occasionally see waders on the shore, such as Λασποσκαλίδρα, Ακτίτης or even Χαλικοκυλιστής.

Gulls rest on the rocky outcrop in the water, in winter including Θυελλόγλαρος and, in lower numbers, Μελανόγλαρος. On windless days, it is also worth bringing a scope and searching the lake area for rare winter visitors: Χειμωνοβουτηχτάρι, (Ευρωπαϊκή) Μαυρόπαπια and Κοκκινοβουτηχτάρι are reported quite regularly, and even Παγοβούτι and Χιονόπαπια have been spotted from the park.

The peaceful setting, combined with beautiful views of the lake and the Alps, makes Parc Mon Repos an ideal spot for birdwatching and enjoying nature.
