Around lake Mattmarksee you can search for one of the most beautiful mountainbirds, the Τοιχοδρόμος, which likes to live near water. Other birds you can find here are Χιονοψάλτης, Σταχτοσουσουράδα and Βουνοσταχτάρα. From the lake you can walk up the mountain and see Κιτρινοκαλιακούδα fouraging in groups near the "refugio", where you can also search for (Κοινός) Χιονόστρουθος. There is a chance of seeing Χρυσαετός and Γυπαετός flying by.

Access
On the Swiss side you can get here by car and walk. On the Italian side you can go up to Monte Moro by cable car or climb up by hiking. The walk from the lake up to the mountain has large rocks so you need good walking shoes and poles come in handy. Click on a P in the map to get directions to the starting point of your choice.
