Description

Yeşilçam Walking Trail is one of the most peaceful forest routes in Antalya. Running along the lower slopes of Tünektepe, it offers a mix of pine woodland, scrub, open rocky sections and beautiful viewpoints overlooking the sea. This variety of habitats creates a lively environment for birds, especially in the early morning when the forest is full of birdsongs.

Along the shaded paths, you can often see species like the Blackcap, Great Tit, Coal Tit, Greenfinch, Common Starling and House Sparrow. During spring and autumn migration, the trail becomes even more interesting as warblers, flycatchers and other migrants stop to feed in the trees and bushes. The open slopes above the trail are good for spotting raptors such as Common Buzzard, Sparrowhawk or even Eurasian Kestrel gliding overhead.

What makes this place special is its calm, natural atmosphere despite being so close to the city. You can enjoy birdwatching while walking through cool, shaded forest, stopping at viewpoints for photography or simply listening to the birds around you. It’s an easy and rewarding spot for both short visits and longer, relaxed birding walks.

Access

The Yeşilçam Walking Trail starts near the Sarısu Recreation Area in Konyaaltı, on the western side of Antalya. It’s very easy to reach from the city centre. If you are coming by public transport, several buses heading toward Konyaaltı stop at Sarısu. From the bus stop, it takes about 5–10 minutes to walk to the beginning of the trail.

If you are arriving by car, Sarısu has a large parking area where you can leave your vehicle safely. Press P on the map for directions to the car park. From the parking area, follow the signs or the forest path toward the start of the Yeşilçam route.

The best way to explore the area is on foot. The trail has a mix of wide forest paths and narrower natural tracks, with gentle slopes and plenty of shade from the pine trees. For birdwatching, it’s ideal to plan 1–2 hours, but you can easily spend longer if you want to walk deeper into the forest or stop at the scenic viewpoints.

Extra info

Early morning is the best time for birdwatching on the Yeşilçam Trail, as the forest is quiet and birds are most active. The path offers many shaded spots where you can stop, listen, and scan the trees for movement. In spring, the trail is full of singing birds, and in autumn mixed flocks often move through the pines.

There are no facilities along the route, so it’s a good idea to bring water, especially on warm days. The area is also great for photography, with beautiful forest light and several viewpoints looking out over the Mediterranean. The trail is safe and well-used by walkers, making it a comfortable spot even for solo birders.
