This is an artificial wetland which was established in the Sakarya River bed. Afterwards, this area became a popular birding area in Central Anatolia.

Description

Balıkdamı is a river bed site. A water regulation system on the river makes this area like a flooded land which is under control. This place is a suitable area for birds in the dry landscape of Central Anatolia . So, you can see wetland birds and steppe birds in this habitat complex. For example Gammörn, Sandspjátra, Tríll, Kólfönd, Rauðflæmingi, Grágæs, Ryðönd, Kúhegri and Þernutrítill. But many more, see the birdlist below.

Access

Balıkdamı is located 150 km southwest of Ankara. There is no suitable public transport that you can use easily. Best option is to go there by car. Click on a P in the map for directions or coordinates. The circular route around the area that is indicated on the map is about 20 km.
