Description

Pools along the River Almond surrounded by riparian forest and open fields. You can reach the Almond Pools by a flat riverside trail from South Livingston. Birds you can observe include waterbirds like Little Grebe, Mute Swan, Eurasian Moorhen, Eurasian Teal, Tufted Duck, Common Goldeneye, Goosander, European Herring Gull and also several species of woodland birds.

Access

The Almond Pools are located 20 miles west of Edinburgh, near South Livingston. Parking for about 10 cars at the trailhead. Press P on the map for directions to the parking. The trail along the River Almond can be very muddy.
