Description

The area around Errwood Reservoir is a good site for many upland woodland species such as Pied Flycatcher, Common Redstart, Tree Pipit and Spotted Flycatcher and the best time to visit is in spring when the birds are in song. Wood Warbler is also present some years. Common Sandpiper, Little Ringed Plover and Mandarin Duck can be found around the southern end of the reservoir itself and Red Grouse and Eurasian Curlew are common on the surrounding moors. White-throated Dipper and Grey Wagtail inhabit the stream to the south of the reservoir and several species of raptor can often be seen in flight over the valley.
