Ethie Mains is a long standing migrant hotspot and one of the best sites for finding migrants on the whole of the Angus coast. The woodland around the farm is good for migrants in the right conditions. You can easily spend a whole day in the area when migrants are around. Migrants that have been spotted in the past include Pallas's Leaf Warbler, Κοκκινοκεφαλάς, Κρικομυγοχάφτης, Νανομυγοχάφτης and Κιτρινόφρυδος Φυλλοσκόπος.
