Description
Forfar Loch has a 4 kilometre (2.5 mile) loop walk around the entire loch. You will pass reed beds, a community orchard, a witches memorial, bird feeders and information posts. The lake attracts breeding, passage and wintering wildfowl and is also a winter gull roost. During migration you can also spot waders. Birds that can be observed include Scoicar, Becațină comună, Corcodel mare, Corcodel mic, Rață mică, Rață pestriță, Rață lingurar, Drepnea neagră, Pescăraș albastru and Pescăruș râzător. And look out for fishing Uligan pescar during the summer. Otter, fox and roe deer are also regularly spotted.

Access
Forfar Loch is located on the west edge of the historic burgh of Forfar. There are 2 main car parks at the east end of the loch, signposted from the town. Easily done on foot or bike. Forfar is easily accessed by car or public transport. The area is easily covered in a morning or afternoon. The 4 kilometre (2½ mile) path around Forfar Loch is suitable for all abilities and forms part of the wider Forfar Path Network. Good year round interest, anything possible during spring and autumn passage.
