Look for Frango-d'água, Galeirão-comum, Mergulhão-de-crista, Abetouro-comum, egrets, Tartaranhão-ruivo-dos-pauis, Combatente, Grou-comum, Colhereiro, Rouxinol-bravo, Chapim-de-bigode, Felosa-dos-juncos, rouxinol-dos-caniços, Escrevedeira-dos-caniços and Alfaiate. Perna-vermelha-escuro, Escrevedeira-das-neves, Ganso-de-faces-negras and Escrevedeira da Lapónia may appear in winter.
Reeds are cut for thatch from December to April and Chapim-de-bigode often feed in the resulting stubble.

Acesso
Horsey is 15 miles north of Great Yarmouth, via Caister and Winterton. It is 22 miles northeast of Norwich. Drive east on A47 then left in Acle and continue through Clippesby and Martham. Nearest rail station is Acle, ten miles away. Nearest bus stop, Somerton, 2 miles.
Access by yacht or motor boat via Hickling Broad and River Thurne. Access restricted in winter to protect wildfowl from disturbance. Ross's boat trips offer one hour wildlife cruises from Horsey. See NT link below.
