Description
The Spit provides a raised viewpoint from which the adjacent marshes and open sea may be viewed. The marshes are tidal and provide habitat to waders such as Eurasian Curlew, Common Ringed Plover and Ruddy Turnstone with waterfowl such as Common Shelduck. The scrub on the Point is home to Meadow Pipit and Linnet.

Hurst Castle is sited on Hurst Point and is a popular local destination so the area will be busy during holidays and weekends. This also means that toilets and refreshments are usually available (but check the Hurst Castle website). The marshes may also be viewed from the coastal road to Keyhaven.
