Kessingland is a long, wide, sand and shingle beach backed by low cliffs. It's is a relatively unspoilt, wild beach where many different birds can be seen.
Thanks to its size and rural location Kessingland Beach rarely feels crowded, even during the sunniest summer days, unlike beaches further up the coast at Lowestoft. The beautiful beach has protected nesting Little Tern. Lovely beach walk for Sand Martin. Large lagoon for wading birds with sand pipers. Reed beds for warblers and Great Bittern and woodland for Common Cuckoo. A superb half or full day bird watching with a full variety must not be missed at the right time of year. Other birds that can be seen here are Kittiwake, Common Ringed Plover, schol Eurasian Oystercatcher, Shore Lark and Eurasian Skylark.
Park at South cove lake or Bentfield church and a small walk or Southwold and the walk is much longer but stunning.
Bird hide at South cove lake must be the right time of year for the Little Tern but still plenty to see.
