Description

Blean Woods is a patchwork of traditional coppice woodland, high forest, glades and heathland. The mix of habitats attracts lots of different bird species. In the dense thickets birds like slavec nest. Some areas of the woodland are made up almost entirely of large oaks and beech trees. Here you can observe veliki detel and mali detel. As night falls on summer evenings you can see the territorial display flight of the sloka. The breeding birds of the Blean Woods include other typical deciduous woodland species as skobec and lesna sova. The podhujka breeds in more open, recently felled areas. škrjančar is often seen on passage.
