Description
The Solway Firth is an extensive and remote area of saltmarsh, mudflats, sandy coast, dunes and reedbeds attracting a wide range of wetland birds. Breeding and passage waders include Crvenonoga Prutka, Kameničak, Oštrigar and Veliki Pozviždač. Winter wildfowl and seabirds include Patka Žličarka, Kržulja, Žutokljuni Labud, Crvenonoga guska, Sjevernomorska guska, Patka Batoglavica, Gavka, and divers, grebes, and auks. Also look out for Mala Bijela Čaplja, Vodomar, Poljska Ševa, Crnoglavi Batić and Livadna Trepetljka. Otters are possible, plus seals, porpoise and dolphin offshore. At Grune Point the receding sea leaves tidal lagoons ideal for rockpooling.
