Descripción

Doodletown IBA contains large tracts of old-growth forest, a perfect breeding ground for Cerulean Warbler and Kentucky Warbler. The dense brushy areas, found near the trailhead, are known spots for Hooded Warbler. There is a small pond with reed beds in the center of the ghost town near the Second June Cemetery, which is a good spot for Belted Kingfisher. Many other species of nesting warblers, cuckoos, vireos, and other songbirds can be found here during the warmer months.

Doodletown IBA is located in Bear Mountain State Park. You can enter from Lemon Road along Seven Lakes Drive or the Doodletown Trailhead near the Doodletown Brook across from Iona Island State Park. During the summer months, the Iona Island entrance has a high number of Deer Ticks, so please be cautious. Make sure to stick to the trails, since the old growth forest can be confusing.
