Old gravel pit on the route of the old Meuse. Large lakes surrounded by forests. Good for ducks and other waterbirds in winter, but also Great Grey Shrike.

In the northernmost point of the Hoge Kempen the Bergerven is a former gravel extraction that is renatured. Large grazers now roam the area. The Bergerven attracts a great diversity of ducks, waders and geese in winter.

Access to the nature reserve is prohibited but there are several beautiful viewpoints on the site (observatories and high points).
