Description

The Kuifeend is a large pond with reed beds and surrounding wet forest with Grey Heron colonies and Great Cormorant colony. In the immediate vicinity there are meadows and reed belts. The area is managed by Natuurpunt. Birds you can see here are Gadwall, Common Shelduck, Water Rail, Great Bittern, Common Kingfisher, Eurasian Spoonbill, Bluethroat, Reed Bunting, Reed Warbler, Sedge Warbler and Cetti's Warbler.

Nederlands: De Kuifeend is een waterplas midden in de Antwerpse haven. Er zijn zeer natte weilanden en depressies. Zeer grote aantallen eenden, vooral duizenden krakeenden. Rietland met een grote vijver. Broekbos met reigerkolonie en aalscholverkolonie. In de onmiddellijke omgeving nog weilanden en rietgordels. Het gebied wordt beheerd door Natuurpunt. Vogels die je hier kunt zien zijn Gadwall, Common Shelduck, Water Rail, Great Bittern, Common Kingfisher, Eurasian Spoonbill, Bluethroat, Reed Bunting, Reed Warbler, Sedge Warbler en Cetti's Warbler.

Access

Parking at Oorderen station. Near the major industrial road. Click on the P in the map for directions. Because of the great birdlife, the nature reserve is only accessible to a limited extent.
