Description

De Platwijers is a nature reserve of approximately 100 hectares. The area consists of fish ponds and meadows and is very rich in birdlife. Among the birds you can see in the area are Greylag Goose, Mute Swan, Egyptian Goose, Common Shelduck, Garganey, Northern Shoveler, Gadwall, Eurasian Wigeon, Mallard, Northern Pintail, Common Teal, Common Pochard, Tufted Duck, Common Pheasant, Great Crested Grebe, Black-necked Grebe, Jack Snipe, Eurasian Woodcock, Common Snipe, Little Bittern, Grey Heron, Great Egret, Little Egret and Great Bittern.

Nederlands: De Platwijers is een natuurreservaat van ongeveer 100 ha groot. Het gebied bestaat uit visvijvers en weilanden en is zeer rijk aan vogels. Er is een uitkijktoren en er zijn vogelkijkhutten.

Access

On foot, by bike or car. Various walks have been set out: green trail – 3 km, orange trail – 5.2 km, red trail – 9 km, blue trail – 10 km, and yellow trail – 12.6 km.
