Description

Steenberg is a former sandstone quarry where nature is given more space. In the higher-lying forest, selective felling and paths ensure that the special vegetation has every opportunity. Among the birds you can see here are Greylag Goose, Canada Goose, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Mallard, Sparrowhawk, Blackcap, Song Thrush, European Stonechat, Common Kingfisher, Common Buzzard and Little Owl.

Nederlands: Steenberg is een voormalige zandsteengroeve waar de natuur meer ruimte krijgt. Wanneer de ontginning stopt op Steenberg wint de natuur snel terug terrein. Dankzij de zanderige bodem gedijt hier fauna en flora die je in de buurt niet vindt. In het hoger-gelegen bos zorgen selectieve kap en paadjes ervoor dat de bijzondere vegetatie alle kansen krijgt. Onder de vogels die je hier kunt zien zijn Greylag Goose, Canada Goose, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Mallard, Sparrowhawk, Blackcap, Song Thrush, European Stonechat, Common Kingfisher, Common Buzzard en Little Owl.

Parking is possible at the Steenberg sports hall. From there, the area can be explored on foot.
