Description

Mramor reservoir is located 10 km north of Sofia and just 2 km away from the Sofia Ring Road. More than 200 bird species have been recorded in the area. Mramor reservoir is an important place on the migration flyway of birds. The area is not only popular with birders but also attracts many anglers from Sofia city. Among the birds you can encounter are Little Bittern, Garganey, Ferruginous Duck, Little Grebe, Alpine Swift, Little Ringed Plover, Green Sandpiper, Whiskered Tern, Squacco Heron, Black-crowned Night Heron, Western Marsh Harrier, Great Reed Warbler, Savi's Warbler, Whinchat, Corn Bunting and Reed Bunting.

The reservoir is located between the villages of Mramor and Voluyak and is easy to reach from the capital city of Sofia. Busses: № 28, 30, 31, 35 go from/to Sofia. Also easy to reach by car from the nearby ring road.
