Description

One of the most important wetlands in the central part of Kosovo is the wetland site of Henc. It was artificially created in the late sixties, aiming at the cultivation of fish. The wetland was created by the conflux of Magura and Vrella water flows, which are branches of Sitnica River. With the surface of 74 ha, biodiversity in the Henc wetland is considered quite rich compared to its size. It attracts many birds. Among the birds you can see in the area are Garganey, Northern Shoveler, Common Pochard, Ferruginous Duck, Black-winged Stilt, Whiskered Tern, Pygmy Cormorant, Great Bittern, Little Bittern, Purple Heron, Squacco Heron, Black-crowned Night Heron, Penduline Tit, Corn Bunting, Montagu's Harrier, Western Marsh Harrier, Moustached Warbler and Great Reed Warbler.
