Good place to see waterfowl migration in spring and autumn. Also waders and birds of prey can been seen especially during autumn migration. Best places to watch migration are at the north and west shore. But you can also see forest species if you hike the coniferous forest. There are trails around this island. The trail you see on the map is 3,5 km.

One can reach this place easily. There is a good road to the endpoint and lots of parking places.

Extra info

Lammassaari is a beautiful island that was created after the Ice Age. The island boasts varied natural features: the pine-dominated esker forest is alternated by deep kettle holes and deciduous trees on the shores. On the ancient shore platforms of Lammassaari, you will get a grasp of the water level fluctuations in Lake Saimaa. Along the Lammassaari Nature Trail (Lammassaaren luontopolku), views open out over Lake Saimaa. There are steep ascents along the trail.
