Säppi is an island in Bothnian bay near Pori. The organization "Säppi bird observatory" operates on this island.

Description

The island withhold one of the finest old-growth forests in southern Finland. The shores attract lots of migratory birds, like Olive-backed Pipit. In spring you can witness great Velvet Scoter migration and in autumn the island is known for it's rarities.

You can explore the island by foot, but you need a boat ride from local fisherman.

The local fisher usually take birders to the island. You can find more info from the local ornithological society. There is a lighthouse on the island and a herd of Mouflon roam in the woods.
